Creating a new localization

Localized strings are defined in several XML files located under $APPHOME/WEB-INF/lang .

First, you should choose a two/three-letter code for your language (you can have a look to the registered codes). Suppose we are traslating into French, and the code is "fr".

Create the file $APPHOME/WEB-INF/lang/fr.xml by copying the en.xml that comes with the distribution. This is the first file you need to customize.

Once fr.xml is translated, change the directory to $APPHOME/WEB-INF/lang/xsl . Here you will find multiple files for every language. These are the strings used by the XSLT formatters (including the Form formmatter used for creating or editing resources). You should create equivalent files for your language by copying all of them. For example, "cp form.en.xml form.fr.xml", and modify the newly created file "form.fr.xml".

Once you have all the files created and translated, you can already configure gmf to use them by changing the property "lang" in the configuration file "gmf.conf". You will need to reload the context in the application server to read the new configuration.

Don't forget to send us a copy of your work to add the new translation to the official release for the benefit of other users!!!
